Celtic OctoberFest
The Queensland Irish Choir celebrated the festive month of October in song with two public appearances within a week.
The Choir singing in the Pavilion at CelticFest in Warwick
The first was a wonderful singing and shared-culture experience at the 2025 CelticFest in Warwick.
What a joyous experience to perform that day, along with many different Celtic singers, pipe bands and dancers. It was a colourful event with many festival attendees dressed in wild and wonderful Celtic costumes - from toddlers in tartan to senior Celtic fans.
The choir hosted three sessions. The first in the morning was a performance of six wonderful songs, followed by a workshop where our audience was invited to learn the Celtic chorus to “Fear a' bhata” (The Boatman). The highlight of the afternoon session was when the workshop members were invited to “rejoin the choir” as we sang “The Boatman” in our final session.
David O’Keeffe leading the workshop, with choir members assisting participants.
Huge smiles, laughter and enjoyment all round!
The next Celtic festival adventure was at the Brisbane Celtic Festival at Moorlands Park in Auchenflower where once again the choir mixed and mingled with an enthusiastic crowd of performers and followers.
Our six songs were well received and we all had fun.
